Aspire has been developed and rolled out across our member schools in Scotland over the last two years. The child-friendly platform helps children and families find opportunities to engage in exciting learning opportunities outside the normal school day: during lunchtimes, evenings, weekends and holidays. Children could take part in a school lunchtime club, build new interests and talents at a sports or arts activity in their community, discover history or science at a local museum or library, or build new knowledge and skills by learning together at home with the family – there are a huge range of activities on Aspire waiting to be discovered!

Aspire shows children that the activities they enjoy doing outside lesson time have an important value: they help children build independence, self-confidence and resilience, as well as boosting talents and skills. In fact, evidence shows that participation in learning activities beyond the classroom can have a significant impact on children’s achievements inside the classroom. Aspire’s gamified features reward learning with credit coins and skill points that enable children to unlock awards as they learn, helping children develop a life-long love of learning that will continue to benefit children for years to come.

Our Quality and Innovation manager, Roseanne said: “As an organisation, we are immensely proud of what we have achieved so far with Aspire. … we’ll continue to learn from challenges, strengthen the site according to the feedback and needs of the children we aim to reach, and work to build a platform that inspires a love of learning for children that will serve them well in later life.”

Aspire will continue to grow and evolve based on the user experience of our child members, their families and the school staff that deliver the programme. As an organisation that’s passionate about learning, we’re excited to learn as much as possible from our member’s experiences of Aspire, and continue to develop a quality tool that helps children create their own learning journey.
